Accepting the Quest[]
Montero
- "<Envoy>, you've returned just in time! I've already repaired the outer shell! Take a look, it's like new!" Montero proudly shows off his work.
- As much as I've done with the exterior, I can't can't seem to figure out the inner mechanics. Some sort of energy source is causing interference.
Envoy
- Whatever that means! You ask Montero what he plans to do about the issue.
Montero
- "I want to see what insulation material will do to this. Unfortunately, I don't have anything that will fit inside this machine, but a Fanged Crocodile Scale should work nicely."
- Most of the Fanged Crocodiles live east of the Competition Arena. They are very, very dangerous, though. If you're going to go out to get one, you must be very careful, otherwise...you will be eaten.
In Progress[]
Montero
- "It boggles the mind. How did this machine run, exactly? I can't figure out how it was powered," Montero mutters, his brow furrowed.
Completing the Quest[]
Montero
- "Excellent, give it here!"
Envoy
- You have just come back with a Fanged Crocodile Scale; Montero can barely contain his excitement to use it.
Montero
- After taking a moment to flip power switches, Montero turns his attention to the repair work.
- After a bit of fiddling, Montero reassembles all the machine's parts.
- "Okay... I'm not completely sure I've got it right, but we'll see what happens." Montero releases a nervous chuckle.
- After a great pause, Montero flips the main power switch.
Envoy
- You hold your breath and watch, but the machine is completely motionless.
Montero
- "..." Montero snorts disapprovingly and flips the switch again.
Envoy
- The machine is a paperweight. Except for its shiny new exterior, it is still the same old Broken Ancient Machinery.
Montero
- "Oh, blast it all! There's nothing else I can think of to do. This machine may be beyond my scope of capability. I can't grasp how its drive system works or what exactly it uses for energy."
- "Well, the Finals are about to begin. I should get back to working on what's important. You should take that machine to someone else. I'm really sorry I couldn't help you."
Envoy
- You release a sigh and leave Montero's cottage. Augustus's assistant, Pierre, was right. Even though Montero is highly skilled, he just doesn't have what it takes to fix the machine.
Eidolon
- "<Envoy>, that Dwarf, Pierre, seemed confident that Augustus can fix this machine. How about we go visit him?"
